The Food Industries Polytechnic held an honorary ceremony for outstanding participants in the Level 2 and Level 3 Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) course, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.

The 30-day course, attended by over 100 participants, aimed to equip them with the necessary skills and competencies to understand and implement food safety management systems based on HACCP principles. It covered key topics including the fundamentals of food safety management, establishing and implementing monitoring and corrective procedures, and documenting food safety management protocols.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahmari, Assistant Minister for Planning and Development at the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources; Ibrahim Alegaily, Chief Executive Officer of the Food Industries Polytechnic; Omar Al-Sulaim, Acting Executive Director of the National Academy for Industry and Director of Education and Training; and Muna Al-Omari, Program Manager and Senior Capacity Development Specialist at the National Academy for Industry.

Human Capital Development as a Priority

Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahmari emphasized that the Ministry places the highest priority on developing national talent across all sectors to ensure a strong, skilled workforce for the Saudi labor market.

He explained that technical and training institutes play a significant and effective role in the success of localization plans, particularly in the food industry.

Ibrahim Alegaily also stressed that the polytechnic places human capital development at the core of its mission. In addition to diploma-level training, this is achieved through short and intensive courses aimed at upskilling the national workforce.

He added that the polytechnic follows a clear strategy to elevate human capital to the highest levels of expertise, ultimately enriching the labor market with highly qualified professionals—especially within the food manufacturing sector.

Regarding the course, participants gave overwhelmingly positive feedback, resulting in an overall satisfaction rate of 99.7% and a 90% rating in terms of meeting expectations and being highly recommended for its quality. Attendees also highlighted the relevance of the course content to their roles and responsibilities, indicating strong engagement and practical applicability.

Al-Omari praised the caliber of the trainees and noted that the course significantly enhanced individual competencies in the food industry—an area of critical importance given the national goal of achieving high levels of food security.

Similarly, Al-Sulaim stated that organizing such courses plays a vital role in strengthening the labor market with capable professionals who can drive meaningful transformation in this strategic sector.

The Food Industries Polytechnic is the first of its kind in the Middle East to offer specialized technical training tailored to meet the needs of the labor market in the food manufacturing industry.

In addition to formal training programs, the polytechnic also launches various volunteer initiatives aimed at fostering positive attitudes among trainees, ultimately enhancing their performance and quality in the workplace.
